Academic Excellence

We are excited to share some news that has just been made public by the CAATE on programmatic outcomes, specifically BOC Pass Rate data for all programs. The Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (www.caate.net) has just published (for the first time) BOC pass rate data for all 357 accredited programs.  Very pleased to announce that LSU ranks as one of the top AT programs in the country!
LSU has a 100% first-time BOC pass rate for past three years (3-year aggregate report).  When comparing average graduating cohort size with BOC 1st time pass rate data, LSU ranks in the top 20 programs (approximately the top 5%!)

For a detailed comparison of all 357 programs, visit www.caate.net and click on the "Professional Program BOC Pass Rate Data" article.

Student Scholars

Two important athletic training students need to be recognized this month. Meaghan Hussey and Olivia Wishman, were both scholarship recipients at the annual Scholarship and Community Partners Award Ceremony.  Meaghan Hussey is a third year student in our program, working with the LSU football team this year.  Olivia is also working with the football team and is a first year student.  Both students have shown outstanding leadership in our program and academic excellence.  Both received scholarships from the LSU School of Human Science's Kinesiology Department.  Olivia was awarded a Premier Scholarship and Meaghan the James A. “Jim” Cason Scholarship.  Ray Castle, our program director, was able to present each of these scholarships to the students.  We could not be prouder of these two students and appreciate their representation of our program!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

It’s that time of the year again! It’s a time for ugly sweaters, hot chocolate, and a little southern hospitality.  Our entire athletic training program got together once again for our annual Christmas party.  This year, it was held at Jack Marucci’s house, our Head Athletic Trainer.  Even though the weather did not fully cooperate, we still came together to share some good times, tons of good food, and a little White Elephant.  It was great to have some fun during this hectic holiday season.  The night ended with a battle of blow darts, courtesy of our gift exchange and reminded us we are all children at heart. Remember the reason for the season, and hope you too enjoyed all of your holiday gatherings with family and friends. Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Student of the Month

Congratulations to our Student of the Month for December, Armand Daigle! Armand is a first year student working with the football team and has proven himself to be an invaluable member of the athletic training team. He is always willing to lend a hand and has shown leadership skills well beyond his years. When asked about Armand, Joe Wisniewski, Graduate Assistant for Football, said "Armand's ability to critically think and identify problems that need to be addressed without instruction make him a stand out student at football. His motor is always running in the athletic training room and his initiative does not go unrecognized by the GAs or staff." Congratulations Armand!
